The new HBO Max spin-off looks way less “awkward nerds squabbin' over comic book lore” and loads more “somebody accidentally Caillou-ed the multiverse and now everybodys gotta slap fight with alternate reality weirdos.” And honestly? That’s enough to geek my motherfuckin interest.

WHAT DAT:
Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom inadvertently triggers a full-on nexus level multiverse event after messing with a device built by Big Bang alums Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter. Now he’s gotta jump across realities trying to fix the universe before everything collapses into wondrous nerd chaos.

WHO DAT:
Kevin Sussman as Stuart Bloom / Alternate Stuart Bloom
Lauren Lapkus as Denise
Brian Posehn as Bert Kibbler
John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke / Supreme Ruler Barry Kripke
Created by Chuck Lorre (Big Bang Theory), Bill Prady (Big Bang Theory), and Zak Penn (Ready Player One)
WHERE DAT:
United States: HBO Max
Canada: Crave/HBO
WHEN DAT:
July 23, 2026. Weekly episodes every Thursday.
WHY THIS:
Look, I’m one of the few nerds in the multiverse that was never absolutely balls deep in 'Big Bang Theory' when it was on the air, but the second HBO Max started talking “multiverse armageddon,” my ears perked a bit by them upping the sci-fi action. This trailer feels less campy network sitcom and more Temu 'Rick & Morty' with a HBO budget - and I mean that shit respectfully.
The dimensional hopping alone leads me think we’re getting some wild cameos, alternate versions of classic characters, and if we're really good a ton of random inventive sci-fi violence. 100% at least one sequence where somebody gets vaporized in a way network TV would never permit. As always here's hoping for chaos and cussin'.
Think you'd down for what will undoubtedly be the wackiest of hijinks in 'Stuart Fails to Save the Universe'?
